Well I'm feeling pretty good as I just clocked my first tank full - 35 mpg! Thats rolling at 80 on the interstate, mixed in with some hills and add some bumper to bumper traffic, not bad, eh?

Maybe they all drive like grandma's...slow and steady. I get around 18mpg mixed, and 22mpg highway. But I have a 400E, so you really can't compare.

I used to own a Ford probe GT with a 2.5 liter engine (with fresh tune up i.e cap, rotor, plugs, wires, oxy sensors) mind you I would avarage around 18-20 mpg city/highway mixture. With the TE (much heavier and larger displacement) I average around 22-25 MPG city and highway (weekends even better, around 25-28 MPG highway!)

GT mileage - 70,000
TE mileage - 220,000

and no I don't drive like a grandma' lol not a threat behind the wheel but no slouch either...

Impossible

There is NO WAY a gas 300E gets 35 mpg. EPA is 18/22. I average 21. '88 300E, 33K miles.

There is a driver I know who has a 87' 300E 5-speed stick shift and he gets slightly over 30mpg.

Personally I get around 20mpg (mixed). I have a 86 300E automatic.

if you look at the signature of the poster, he lists his car as an E300, not an E320. i sure you can figure it out.

i get mid 20s freeway. but only on long trips. i usually drive with it pretty much floored so my actual economy is in the teens.

mine is a 2.6

E320 35mpg?

Granted the E320 has the more sophisticated fuel injection system and more modern engine but I have a hard time believing a car weiging 3500lbs w/ a 3.2 liter engine and a 4spd auto gets 35mpg in mixed driving. What's EPA for an E320?

Mine was getting horrible 15 - 17 mpg.
but mine is a 145K, 90', oil level was low and no tune-up maintenance. Probably did permanent damage.

So, I ended up giving it up for a tune-up just today, and see if that helps it and if that doesn't work, off to the selling it online, or Trade-IN

hopefully try to pick up a car with LOW mileage this time.
