Ignition Locked up whats wrong?
Hey i have a 94 e 320...when i put the key in the ignition it simply will not turn the ignition. Its completely locked up and the only conclusion i could make was that the tumbler is bad. Does any body know if this is the problem? or if theyve experienced this problem before?
thanks

Move the steering wheel back and forth while trying to twist the key. Are you using an oem key? If not, is it made out of brass? I heard this is kinda like a warning as the tumbler will soon go bad after. Fix it now rather than later when it is stuck.... I think... anybody else want to confirm?

The key we have for the car is a mercedes manufactured key...it is brand new and we have tried turning the wheel and the key.....but it is still locked up.

take the key out, scratch the key along the tip of a pencil a few times......
the graphite pencil tip is like a lubricant......
giggle the wheel as you try to turn the key...........g..luck !!!

All W124s do this at some point.
You'll need a new tumbler assembly and soon.
Must get from dealer--bring your proof of ownership.
My indie mechanic had a "temporary" tumbler he installed until tumbler with correct keying arrived from dealer.
