Passenger Seat Motor
So, Basically - I'd like to know if there is any way to manually lower and place the seat back.
Periodically the seat will move but lately it has been stuck in the up position and no longer retracks back. It moves forward (but then again it will be stuck)and reclines only now.
This has happened before and out of no where the seat started working again. I gotta stop letting girls with phat asses in my car. lol

could be a seat cable. just did some work on a porsche and the seats wouldn;t go back or forward. turned out to be a $30.00 cable on each seat.

I checked the problem and it's the seat switch. Gonna have to replace that sometime soon but it's not on the top of my priority list.

Hey Chris,
Try cleaning the switch first. They are made in such a way that you can take them apart and clean them up. I did this with both sides and it worked like a charm. I did a very very detailed write-up on mercedes shop. Read the replies, too. One guy had some pictures up in a thread that he links to.
It's a very easy DIY job. Just need a phillips screw driver, a flat head screw driver, some cleaner, tweezers, q-tips, and cup or something to hold the tiny little ball bearings. This could save you a few hundred bucks, so give it a try!

I fixed my seats!!! since it would back but not up and down from the back on one side but i fixed it in 30 min. I put the seat all the way foward and took the mechanisim apart added a washer to the roller and super glue the rod that turn it and that was it. now it goes all the way down and back.

SwEET! LOL Super glue!
man it appears that we all have the same freakin' problem...my seat is stuck also and it only tilts the seat back, not the entire seat.
oh yea and about that cable, everytime I move my seat I can actually see the seat cable move. but thats all it does...it sounds like a "thump".
Sigh...

Man i should check my spelling when i type fast lol...anyways i should post pics of the cable im talking about. It goes into a sleeve that turns the gear that moves the seat up and down. I'm sure the motor in the front would be a ***** to change since you gotta take the whole seat out. It's not that difficult to fix but just takes alot of time and there are small parts so watch out with that...

^^Please please please, save yourself some money and just clean them. You're looking at spending around $300 to replace both switches (at least). Cleaning them will cost like $15 for the cleaner and cutips.
