Crack noise from door jambs?
Is anyone experiencing noise coming from doors or door jambs? I get a body 'crack' type of sound that happens during accelerating or breaking. It's most noticeable during stop and go traffic. Could it be door check straps, hinges or locks? I'm not sure where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh yes, it's on a 1987 300E.

Do you get this noise also when opening the doors wide? If yes, it is the door straps. If not check the weldings of the rear doors hinges, they sometimes tent to corrode. Other than than hard to tell from the distance. Are the rubber seals of the doors very dry and need some treatment with talkum or Armoral spray, they can make noise when the car body is "moving" relative to the doors
