wheel fitment help

sorry to beat a dead horse, but i've tried searching and couldn't find a definite answer... i have an opportunity to buy some 19" wheels for my 1995 e320. from what i pulled up when searching, most people say to get 18"s, but this is a decent deal... the wheels are 19" x 8.5", offset +40, tires are 235/35/19. Would they fit??
also, what is the ideal wheel size, tire size, and offset for 18" rims?

i'm sure you remember someone posted a link to this car, it has 19" rims on it, i think they look really good. the ones i might get are a different style, but the look...

i dont really see 19's fitting with that size tire. i have 18's and its a tight fit.

i wouldn't run 19x8.5 or 18x8.5 with anything lower than 38mm but they can fit if you have 19x8 with a 35mm offset...i wouldn't go with 19s because the tires are soo expensive compared to 18s or 17s and you run the risk of bending/cracking the wheels at any time if you drive on a bad road...ohh and by the way the pic you posted is fake those rims are not from that car....look at all the AMG crap they have it's all photoshop...

thanks for the input, i guess i will stay away from the 19"s.

so i guess the rule of thumb for 18" wheels is 18x8 unless the offset is higher than 35? i found one set that is 18x8.5 with a 35 offset, would those fit?

some fender rolling a 235 tire and they should fit.....but yeah 18x8 35mm offset is perfect with a 225/40/18 tire no rubbing issues at all...also don't buy the falken 512 they suck ***!!!....handling was better with my 16" rims on 225/50/16 michelin tires...

thanks!

what kind of lee-way is there with the measurements? would an 18x8.5 with a 35, 38 or 40 offset work? most of the wheels i see are 8.5...

well 18x8.5 wheels with a 35mm offset fit....you can run a 235/40/18 tire but you will need to roll the fenders but should pretty much fit....anything bigger will rub unless you have a 500e...i think i might change to 17x8 because i like to take corners fast...

okay, cool.. i will try to stay with the 225/40/18 so i don't have to touch the fenders, and probably have to end up going with 18x8.5.

thanks a lot for the help man...
