If heard a bit about these, but have questions-
Do they make a noticeable difference? (i.e. do the benefits outweight the hassle and cost)?
Are they a straight-up replacement?

Naw!! plenty low for this old hillbillie! Any lower and I will need one of those lift seats to get my *** out of the car!! I like the KYB's but I like a stiff setup for the twisty roads we got here in the mtns. But it's all a matter of what each of us likes . Some likem stiff others likem soft ! Me I like a stiffie !

Do you think you can still achieve a lower stance w/ the KYB, vogtland combination or will the KYBs cause the car to retain a normal ride height dispite the lowered spring. I know people run lowering springs w/ stock shocks all the time, so my guess would be that KYBs should work.

A member on here used Koni adjustables on his W124. They're alot more $$$ then Bilteins. I haven't seen him on here in awhile he was from the big island I think.
You could use lowering springs with stock shocks but again you could use nitrous on a Yugo. Anything is possible but is it feasable in the long run to save a few bucks? Trust me you're going to spend more money in the long run replacing those stock shocks .

Yes, but I've seen scenarios where the type of shock/spring combination limits the lowering effectiveness of the spring (i.e. a gentleman w/ a W201 used HD bilsteins and vogtlands and it kept the level of his car not too far from factory ride height). His complaint may just be an issue spcefically w/ the W201 and not an issue with the suspension components. On another note, I'm not after KYBs because of the price. I want them because I know they work. Having had them in my Nissan and numerous friends running suspension setups with them, I'm confident in their ability to perform. My only concern is I know vogtlands lower the car relatively low, will I have the same issues that the guy w/ the W201 did?
