To each their own, but personally I like what Albert has done to his W124.
Updated it tastefully without being ricey. IMO ricey or civic'ish coincides with being cheap/cutting corners and throwing everything they have in the accessory aisle down at your local Pep Boys /Track Auto. Keep in mind yes there are some nice fixed up imports but the majority of the ones you see on the street are just plain ghetto. You can tell Albert spent alot of time & $$$ on his car. I would rock CF fenders anytime. IMO I think just adding CF 500 sytle flares would be enough.

I'm sure you'll be able to sell a couple of these to people with a 300E who want the wide fenders on the 500E. I'm not so sure how much demand there is because of "old school" people like me who rather stick with stock OEM stuff.

On a side note, regarding your car...
I think your car looks good overall . There are some things I like (blinking mirrors, rear brake light, engine compartment) and some things I don't like (front grill, interior). But that's just me. You have spent a lot of time and money making the car the way YOU WANT IT. Don't worry about what others say.

Personally I don't think NorCal124's comment was said with any malice. Your car is definitely on the cutting edge ...but doing to much (ie. a black CF hood on a yellow car) is venturing out into the gray area of being "ricey". Just don't add on a HUGE rear spoiler, hood scoop, and neon lights .

If you do this to your car, members of this forum will carjack you to save your car. hehehe. Just kidding.

lots of cars
will be doing some exposed, but just not the fenders, its just too much...
....SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT HE DID SAY THE CF IS NOT GOING TO BE EXPOSED ON THE FENDERS!!! SO QUIT WITH THE RICE ANALOGY...!!...ok by the way that's a racing car so it needs all the aerodynamics to make it have downforce on the car so that picture has nothing to do with being a rice rocket....

Its a racecar huh. It cost so much to build that he had to go w/ the factory ford probe wheels.

There is an old proverb "If you don't have anything positive to say, don't say anything at all".

I see plenty of things that disgust me, but I don't express my opinion everytime this happens.

I have seen this car around the fora for the past couple of years and it is very nice. I think the CF work will be a nice addition. Did RUNEXE get everyone focused on CF after his interior work got done? I was in Virginia with the guy that was finishing the last few pieces last year as I got ready to set up my CF shop.

How are you going to baggie the rear fender area to make the mold? I know you can get the bag that big but...

Don't worry about the guys that don't like the color or the wheels or the _____ or _____. That car is nice. I think we would start getting very tired of them if they all looked alike. It is the creativity and personality that puts the pop in the cars.

Certain automotive styles have their place. To me, not all belong on a benz. I've gone through my phase of outrageous styling and custom stuff. Now I look for the details, the small things most people would look over. I'm not the type to go on ebay and bid on everything that says W124. But like I said, don't ask for opinions and expect everyone to like it.

Albert did an incredible job with his car- converting it to a 500 widebody is very difficult. He pulled it off, and it's a testament to his high level of craftsmanship.

not to flare things up again, but Norcal: For a man who claims to focus on details and appreciate sublety etc, can't you see how your "civic" comment was more of an attack than a mere expression of your opinion?

He was not soliciting attacks, he was soliciting opinions. You could've said "I don't like that idea." I doubt you would've said that civic comment to his face, cuz it would've been rude... I'm like you in that I don't like super agressive/overstated mods. But you gotta appreciate the craftsmanship of his work... just like I hate dave matthews band, but I can appreciate the art and skill of their music.

lots of cars
One question? If you can work with carbon fiber and fiberglass how come you don't make a completely different body style? I mean change the style of the front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, and fenders?......Im not looking to sell the body kit im making because i don't want for everyone and their momma to have it...i mean other than materials i don't think it's really expensive to go wild with some things....well i hope i get my sh#$ doen soon but i got my skills from hot rodding so im gonna make my benz come out alittle different....
