So where is it that you can find bilstein sports for 350. Ive been looking and found them at no cheaper than 480 so far. I have an awesome set of vogtlands under my bed that I would love to just put on the car but I want it all at once. I am also changing a lot of the suspension components that may look worn out or dirty.
thanks all,
Pete

If I might chime in: regarding Cali's comments about worn out shocks lowering the ride. I got a set of H&Rs and didn't change my shocks. It's been about a year and a half now, and my front shocks squeek like crazy. And the front of my car is also a lot lower in front than it was when I first got my new springs.
While some of this might be due to the springs settling in a bit, I have to wonder if it's the shocks. I too am looking for Bilstein Sports, and I too cannot find them cheaper than about $480! But when I get some installed, we'll see if it changes my ride height!

blown shocks blow. i had a honda civic that my first mod ever was just slap a set of TEIN lowering springs onto the stock shocks. it handled a little better and was all fine an dandy (except for the excesive negative camber in the front that just ate tires like no other). a year after the install my left front shock blew. and beleive me there was a noticable difrence. when it sat in a parking lot it looked like it had a flat tire because the whole front corner just sagged so much. i soon redid the whole suspension with a set of TEIN coilovers and also replaced all the bushings with Energy Suspension peices, the car felt like it was on rails.
so in short lowering spring and stock shocks don't mix. and blown shocks do affect ride height.

Those wheels look nice on the car...it's nice to see something other than AMG's every once and awhile. Certainly unique.
With the whole issue of shocks and wether or not they support weight:
After changing out my stock shocks for bilstein sports, the ride was definetly lower. This is simply because stock shocks are designed to work best with a stock ride height. When the car is lowered, the shocks are put under more pressure, and are constantly trying to push the car back up. Sport shocks are shorter, so they will not be supporting as much of the car's weight.
In short, replacing stock shocks with sport shocks will lower your car. (even if it's just a little bit)
