in need of new shifter.....
boys&girls
One quick question....anybody has install a newer version of the shifter knob(other models, maybe?). i'm lookin' for something that i could actually paint black. please tell me where should i loook. i've looked for one on eBay but nobody really knows what in the world are they sellin' and none of them will guarantee perfect fit, if at all. so, i'm turning to you guys. any links will be greatly appreciated. thank you
check this one out. it looks like one of ours and it can be painted but if i would like to upgrade and spend all these money?....i would go with something shorter if available.

performance products sells a shaft adapter for the w124 to be able to put on just about any knob you can find. it works for the newer style mb knobs so you could get any newer style knob and it will work.
The shaft adapter is somewhere between $15 - $25.
I have seen them on ebay too, but since I live so close to performance products, I simply bought one myself locally from them.
I have a 2006 C class sport shift knob on my car now. but I need to get a new shaft adapter as with my old knob I had cut it down a bit to make the shifter a little lower.

the only thing is that IMO your shifter is too fancy for W124 it looks nice, please don't get me wrong (to make you happy, even my wife likes it, LOL) but it's just not my thing. i believe, i should stick with something black and simple.
i guess, i have to look for that adapter now. thanks guys.

I had a momo combat metal before in silver with black. looked great, but this c class knob I like myself..
Shaft adapter is the best way to use just about any knob you desire.

hi, i bought a cheap one on ebay (around 29 bucks) i had to bend the sahft a little, but not much to fit my 1986 300e. it wasnt too bad to remove, you take up the wood piece around the shifter, remove the 4 screws on the black plactic iece around the shifter lever, then lift the rubber boot up on the shifter lever, there is a small nut there, loosen it, then turn off the shifter handle and bar, and replace the opposite way
