Dings/Scratches/Blemishes - how to fix?
My 1992 400E has more than a few dings, scratches, blemishes, etc... Has anyone found a good way to repair these? I was thinking about taking it ot a body shop and asking if they can "spot" fix these areas.
Any ideas?
Thanks. Steve

Alot of scratches and blemishes can be removed by a good detailer. If you don't know what you're doing I wouldn't attempt this on your own. Depending on how bad it is it can be removed by cleaning the paint with a good de-oxidizer and buffer or various grades of very fine sand paper (wet-sanding). Small dents can be removed by a paint-less dent removal service figure about $ 50-100 a panel. I wouldn't do spot repair from an autobody for two reason.
1) Very overpriced $$$
2) Very hard to colormatch on older cars. You have to put into account weather, oxidation etc of your old car paint compared to the new paint. Usually what they do is paint the whole panel where the repair needs to be done. So that panel is going to stick out like a sore thumb

^^ exactly. For the minor scratches, an easy thing you can do which any novice can do , is first got a cotton terry cloth, or any type of applicator ( CLEAN! ) and buy some Meguiars ScratchX which can be found at almost any store (walmart, autozone, pep boys, etc.) and just apply the product on the pad and rub it in. Don't be a sissy either, work that product in with passion. You can email me the original picture at DoTheDew98@gmail.com and ill post the picture here. Detailing yourself isn't hard but you just have to learn what to do and which products to use. Then again, you can be sure and go with a detailer, if you live in so cal, i know a great guy to help you out. The best! (but it will cost you a pretty penny....)
