I can think of two bowden cables off hand-- the hood release cable and the emergency brake release. What specifically are you looking for?

the bowden cable tells the transmission to shift based on the position of the accelerator. i believe that the tighter it is, the lower it shifts. i might have it backwards, but i dont know where it is.

on m103 engines, Ive had to adjust mine. If you remove the airbox, there will be 2 at the back of the engine. One comes from the accel pedal and the other one goes to the tranny. Mine has white coming from the tranny and green from the pedal. Once you trace where the line goes, just twist it

i was just wondering where these would be on a M104 car? (94 320) i just wanted to try and see if i could make the shiftys a little smoother because (which way would i adjust?) the 2-3 shift is a bit harsh if you dont adjust the throttle accodingly.
thanx

To make them softer , It would be better to adjust the transmission modulator located on the passenger side of the vehicle of the transmission. It is green . I forgot which was to twist the t knob, One way makes the shifts more harsh, the other softens it up.

"Bowden cable" is a generic term for any kind of flexible cable-within-sleeve.

You're talking about "transmission kickdown cable."

Note the word "kickdown."

Unless seriously misadjusted, this is only purpose of this cable, i.e. to create a downshift when you floor the accelerator.
