Anyone have a clue...?

Does anyone know how much a W124 weighs? If you've got a weight, is it a coupe, 4dr, and what year and engine size is it?

Look on the sticker (or was it a metal plate?) on the driver's door jam (B pillar).

Mine is a sedan - total weight 4495 lbs.

It also says that the weight distribution is 2265 front/2230 rear.

No wonder it drives so nicely.

The door plate is present to show the GVW or gross vehicle weight rating. The car does not weigh 4495, but instead this what the car can weigh total and remain safe incluing fuel, passengers, trunk load, etc.

The front and rear number on the GVW placard is the distribution of weight that the front and rear axles or suspension can carry.

hope this helps,

Don~

That plate also said that the max weight capacity was 850 lbs, so would it weigh 4495-850=3645 lbs?

That seemed a little portly before.

Time for a bottle run

Fill your trunk with bottles and go to the recyler with the drive on scale. He will weigh you in with the bottles then dump your bottles and get weighed in again. He will give you a slip with the weight difference for your check at the counter for your recycling. Ask him how much your cars weighs at that moment. This way you can find out by weighing yourself on a scale at home and subtracting that from the total weight if you were in the car at the time of weighing. Hope that takes the load off your mind. JJ

max payload is 850lbs.

so you, your passengers and cargo, cant weigh more than 850lbs. between my brother and i, we would weigh 580lbs (mostly him, im 220lbs of rugby playing muscle) so we wouldnt be able to schlep more than one other person.

also that weight distribution is with a full load, which MB calculated to be a front seat passenger, three rear passengers, a trunk full of crap and a full tank.

remove the trunk full of crap, the three rear passengers, and you see that the weight distribution is not so optimal.
