Another discussion about Bilstein Sports
I'm still trying to put 2 and 2 together, but unsure on a few factors. Now I've read in the past how shocks are designed for specific heights, so are shocks designed for our ride height's with or without bump pads? Now if people feel they must change from comfort/hd shocks to sports for as little as a 1" to 1 1/4" drop then would a 2" drop be too much for the Sports? What ride height are Sports set for anyways and what would wear out sports? For those of us with staggered rims or different tire sizes is it suitable for us to use sports in the front and HD's in the rear? Also in a recent post I read that shocks help adjust ride height, now is this because they are trying to get back to their designed ride height? As I have close to a 2.5" drop overall and I'm stuck thinking sports will try to adjust it back to 2"s is that true or no? Thanx!!! Theorys drive me crazy

Seems like a lot is on your mind buddy...
A low drop won't affect the Bilstein Sports at all. When I first lowered my car, I had a 3"+ drop in the front. Where it was barely one finger gap with the stock wheels in the front. When you think about it, Just think Bilstein Sports = Lowering Springs. The two go hand and hand. I wouldn't recommend going any other way, but a few members have gone the Bilstein HD's with lowering springs. That was because there cars were extremely low and had to "raise" their car a little bit especially with running aggressive wheels. Can't really say what would wear out the Sports, I abuse my car so much and they are still going strong...the ride height of the car is focused more primarily on the springs and the bump pads itself. All your questions confused me a little... lol

So your telling me that putting HD's on will lift my ride up a bit? (At least in the rear). For a while I have thought of sports in the front with HD's in the rear, my rear springs settled more than I expected and I already have bump 3 pads on it.

In most cases, HD's were known to lift the ride a little bit. Hence the Heavy Duty and stock like characteristics.
Why don't you put a 4-Bump in the rear? That's what I have in the front. The rear for my car is 2 Bump I believe.

No, If you have the right spring compressor you can simply just jack up the car, move the wheel outwards on each side, compress the spring, take it out, put the bump pad it and put everything back. It only takes a few minutes if you know how to do it.

for the rear there are only 3 bump pads and for the fronts there are 5, I'm already at the max for the rear, and adding bumps on top on each other can make the spring pop out.

But thats cool, cause now my rear is lower than my front, and thats not good when my rear tires are bigger. So I'll look into having sports in the front and HD's in the rear which is a plus to also aid me when scrubs wanna ride in the back or I have to put something with weight in the trunk.

I have 2 bump in the front and 3 in the rear on my car. I couldn't imagine it being any lower. I barely clear most parking blocks with the front as it is...
I think you can get spring pads from a c class and they may have 4 bump for the rear... not sure though..
Chris, you should ask sander what the max spring pads for the rear are. I know the w124 ones have 3 max in the rear, but another model may have more.

Yo wazzup ASHMAN, I'm having a hard time viewing updated pics of your ride as it threw some inspiration my way. Where can I view them? And yes I have bump 2 in the front and bump three in the rear (stock pads). I'm waiting on CaliWald to send me some front fender spacers, and for the rear I'm still in search of more lift. Still don't make sense that the rear is lower than the fronts, well thats what I get with taking a chance and risk on a unfamiliar lowering spring manufacturer.

I don;t have any updated pics of my car. Hell I havent even washed it in a few weeks, and it needs a full detail badly.
All in due time... been busy with some other life stuff to worry about the car much...

got mine at eshocks.com and they are a great company to work with, free shipping over $200 and the lowest prices I seen. I got my shocks to my door in under 4 days.
