Exclamation Transmission Shifts Poorly Out of 2nd... PLEASE HELP!!!

My transmission has had this problem since I got the car 3 years ago. It did get alot better when I had it cleaned out a month ago, but still, at high rpms, it will not shift. I had people tell me that was just the way it is... is this true? or is there some miracle technique i could do to fix this?

Any advice at all is well apreciatted!!

How is your tranny fluid?? Have you ever serviced the tranny?

When you say it doesnt shift at high RPMS, what exactly do you mean? Does it stay at 3500 on second and does not downshif or upshift?? is that what you mean??

A new transmission is not necessary. We need a better description of your problem. Are you flooring it and it just doesn't shift? Or does it shift too late? When it does shift, is there a flare from raise of rpms or an abrupt and rough shift?

Sorry guys

It happens during acceleration from 1st to second gear. it dosn't shift until i let off the gas. i had it serviced and it got a little better, but it's still not perfect.

trans service?

You mention you had it serviced, what kind of service center did the service? MB shop or independent? And what exactly did they do? Fluid change including the torque converter? New filter? Look at your work order and tell us how many quarts of oil they added and what brand and type. There could be a few items that were messed up like the wrong oil type and maybe they did not know about draining the converter. While I like shopping around a bit...having a longterm trusted mechanic whose parking lot is crammed full of German cars...that gives me a better confidence level.

change the fluid before you think about replacing the tranny. my friend thought his tranny needed to be replaced but he just changed the fluid and its been running fine ever since.

A couple of years ago my trans was slipping real bad. I changed the trans fluid (didn't touch the filter) and its still running. Make sure you drain the torque convertor too.
