Your Plastic Painting Procedure?

I'm replacing an Impact Strip. Since its not a huge piece I thought I could get away with rattle cans. Anyone have experience with it? And any particular brand of primer to go with?

use any primer from autozone
let dry between coats
a few coats of primer, a few coats of paint and finally a few coats of clearcoat.

Make sure to wash and dry what ever you're painting. Some light sanding and cleaning between primer, paint, and clear doesn't hurt either.

I can understand sanding between primer and paint. But between paint and clear?? I wouldn't recommend that, unless it was wet-sanded with an extremely high grit... Even then, I'm not sure what the point would be.

The key is to be patient and not overspray. Drips will ruin the project. Do thinner layers than you think you should and just do lots of them.

Too true - the difference between great jobs and half-*** jobs is patience.

use a flexible primer and paint. otherwise it will chip the moment it gets knocked by something.

That's what I meant. Sorry, its hard to explain in detail when its all in your head and you're so used to doing it yourself.
