My system installation progress- PICS
Dude, getting the door panels back on had to have been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. Then, getting those damn speaker grilles on was so difficult. I was about to buy a plane ticket to France to find the engineer who designed those speaker grilles and kick is ****. So I ended up scratching the hell out of the driver's side grille. Oh well. And yes, the aren't straight. I'll have to take them off again and redo it later.
But enough complaining, I'm very happy with how they turned out. My only regret is that I didn't find a way to make them more shallow. My left leg pretty much rests against it. But at best I probably could've only made them 1" more shallow. I still have access to the e-brake pedal and my seat can still move up really far. I just can't wait to hear them!

The car is definitely much quieter, but you can still hear plenty of road noise on the freeway. Worth it though. I'm pretty sure that my 18's and low profile tires are mostly to blame for that though.
Crr, I wouldn't say that they stick out WAY too much. Like I said, the best I could've done is reduce the depth by maybe an inch. I used very slim speakers, so the only other thing I could've done is just not put speakers in the door at all. It's just a case of give and take. It doesn't interfere with my driving at all.
I am wondering why you went all funky notchy at the door lock pin end of the enclosure...seems like a cleaner line could have been acheived...something I missed?
Nice work!
I'm not sure what you mean by funky notchy though. Basically, aside from the area where the speaker is, I just added a few layers of fiberglass to what was already there. In other words, it's the stock shape. I'm guessing you're not as familiar with the coupe door panel. Here's a pic of the map pocket panel before I added fiberglass:
