Rim Opinion

i like 2 because it's more benzy... but the finishes available are chrome, and 'silver machined' . i don't want chrome, but the silver machined is pretty chromey too (i think the pic is silver machined, so you see what I'm saying). I liked 1 because of the lip, but i don't think the size that will fit my car would provide as much of a lip as the picture. i plan on lowering the car, it's a white sedan with the grey two-tone.
i'm leaning to 2 right now, what do you think would look beter??
or do you have any suggestions as to what else might look good? i know the amg rims always look the best, but i can't afford 2k for rims right now, sadly...

Of those two, I'd have to agree with you...I like the second one more. It's not as offensive as the first, and it kinda has a Carlsson feel to it. The "silver machined" finish might look pretty nice on a white car. But hey, if you're not totally sure if you like it, then why waste your money? Search around until you find a set of wheels that really catches your eye.

How about going with #2, but getting the centers powder-coated silver? Note that you would have to do some research on powder coating because for some types of metals it will weaken them. Also note that any color other than black also requires some clear coat, which makes them a little more expensive.

But I bet that would still be cheaper than buying real carlssons/walds/etc.

If you are going to get them powder coated, do it before using them. the brake dust would cause a bit more of a headache for prep work.

same as yours, white with the grey two-tone...

I like these wheels a lot, i really think they'll suit the w124 shape... they're probably better quality, i'm pretty sure they're japanese

i like these because of the lip, and also they look like they would work well with the w124... they're carlsson knock-offs from what i can see

i might let the final price dictate my decision if i can't choose one

lots of cars
SNSMBZ - Way too ballerific..TIS rims do not belong on a mercedes. Diablo rims are just copies of Zenetti and Lowenhart but i do like those black ones.

chis pham and ashman. step up and rep your rims
Chris and ashman have Aero 1 AMG Hammers that are basically impossible to find even tho i had a set with the wrong offset. I don't think those rims are an option. I located 3 300e mercedes with those rims in chrome 2 of the owners will not sell them and 1 is thinking about it. I gave them my number just incase they changed their mind.

put the +/- $1000 youd pay for those towards some real carlssons.

Why can't he go cheap? Why would you put 3k rims on a 3k car?...His car is probably a daily driver unlike yours and bent lips, nicks, and curb rash will be a big concern. I wouldn't like to f#@ up a 3k set of rims and if i did buy them it would be for a show car.

There's nothing wrong with replicas just look for the proper offset which is 35-40mm and 7-8" wide rims. Also the centerbore on a mercedes is 66.6 or you will find some rim manufacturers use 66.59. The problem with some replica rims is that they are really heavy since they are cast wheels.

yeah man, you get it...! i drive the car to work every day, i don't want to break the bank on wheels that will get used to that extent... i'm always careful on bad roads regardless (i would prety much shut down M street if i ever went into Georgetown, just to save my $900 wheels!), so not too worried about bending them, but on my old car i managed to get scratches on the rims from curbs, etc.
snsmbz, the black ones are pretty cool, but the others are not my taste... appreciate the suggestions though.

i like these a lot, i might try something like this, though it's a little different from the 'traditional' w124 styles... (belongs to Frederic0w124, hope you don't mind if i borrow the image...) it updated the look of the car without taking away from it

um my car is daily driven. not too sure where you get your info from.
i build my cars to abuse them, not to let them sit.

and price of your car doesnt justify having fake parts. i got a 89 civic hatch shell for free and put $800 wheels on it, so what. i just despise of fake anything. wheteher it be cologne, wheels, shoes, clothes.. anything.

i just dont fake the funk and cheap out anything i work hard to buy. id just dish out a few hundred more and get the real deal.

I can definitely agree with all of that! But, I thought I'd see what he thought about some pretty damn baller rims. Myself, I think Im just going to drop the car and keep the stock 15" chromes... for now.

If i were to get any, they would probably be one of these. I like the black and chrome ones too. I think something like that would look good on my car, because it's whit w/ black trim and tint. I would get some Aero's, hands down, if I coud ever find any!
