OK, I'm a freaking idiot. It just occurred to me that you said mercedes shop and that's what I just gave you a link to.

Somehow it registered in my head that you check MB's web site. That of course makes no sense now that I'm thinking it through.

I ordered a few OEM parts from him and they were pretty good. So I don't have a problem buying anything from him again in the future.

Matt - I tried that tutorial ... I guess I'm not trying hard enough to remove it. lol

I've heard they should be replaced every ten years or so (or was it 15?). I'm afraid to find out how much that costs.

Your air bag is not the cause of that light that is popping out, Chris. These systems can be reset with the right DAS and multiplexer with right cables. Anyways. Do yourself a favor get your clockspring checked, eventually if the cables/plastic inside are flling-a-part that light you were talking about will lit for you 4ever. Replacement should take about 40-66 minutes depends on the skills.
Removal and Installation :

Remove cover below instrument panel.
Disarm SRS system and remove steering wheel.
Allow steering wheel lock to engage, with front wheels in straight ahead position.
Disconnect connector, contact spiral/airbag (A45x1). Expose cable.
CAUTION : Observe SRS safety precautions!

Disconnect connector, contact spiral/fanfare horn relay (A45x2). Expose cable.

Unscrew fixing screws (32h) sufficiently so that the contact spiral (A45) can be removed. The fixing screws (32h) are also used to prevent rotation.

Carefully remove contact spiral (A45) from jacket tube. Withdraw cables of contact spiral (A45) through the jacket tube trim. When installing, ensure that the contact spiral (A45) is pushed on up to the stop and the recess (arrow) on the contact spiral (A45) aligns with the fixing lug (arrow) on the steering shaft.
NOTE : On vehicles with ADS, the steering angle sensor is clipped to the underside of the contact spiral and can only be replaced when the contact spiral (A45) is removed.

Installation is in the reverse of removal.
Dismantling the Contact Spiral :

The upper and lower sections of the contact spiral are clipped together. This connection is only disconnected due to the effect of excessive force or defective assembly. If this is the case, carefully coil up the contact spiral, compress carefully (do not trap the spiral) and re-assign the center position.

WARNING:

Do not use oils or greases in or on the contact spiral.
The band must not be installed kinked, use a new contact spiral, if necessary .
Center Position of Contact Spiral :

The center position of the contact spiral is decisive for the satisfactory function of the airbag and signalling system. When removed, it is guaranteed by the fixing screws.

If however the contact spiral has been turned, e.g.

when the steering coupling was removed,
by unscrewing the fixing screws completely, the center position is to be determined as follows:
Screw the fixing screws fully into the contact spiral.
Turn contact spiral clockwise until a resistance is detectable.
Turn contact spiral approx. 2 - 2.5 rotations anti-clockwise (turn back) until the fixing screws can be unscrewed again and fix the contact spiral.

Dude, do you know any reason why clear corners that I just bought don't fit my OEM plugs? The OEM lights had a three socket prong, and the clears had a two socket prong. Any idea what I should do?
