the sole purpose for a strut bar is purely structural rigidity, it has nothing to do with shocks. but, I guess since it does stiffen the chassis I would hypothesis it probably does cause some sort of an effect on shock wear.
sorry I missunderstood what you were questioning.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Actually, strut bars prevent the strut towers from flexing independently of each other during hard cornering. That's how they stiffen the chassis. When you throw your car into a hard left turn, all of the weight shifts toward the front right wheel. The strut tower on that side gets torqued around, giving you less handling.

I was told it was the seals and they needed to be replaced, for a small fee of 500 bux! haha! LOSERS...
SO, I decided to go to the local autoplace and shootmyself in the head (I was loosing about a quart every two weeks

4 years later perhaps a drop or two on the floor, tranny level seems fine and my tranny doesnt feel as hesitant as before...it rides perhaps even better
![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
now I'm NOT advising you to do this, but perhaps something to think about if your not going to invest in getting it fixed before (HEAVEN FORBID you end up with no tranny somewhere stuck, and it could be dangerous to you and other drivers) it quits
just my .02

by the way
before I added the stop leak my trans would
1. hick-up (to the point where I thought I made a mistake buying the wagon)
2. Sluggish, SO sluggish that I could be spanked by a geo metro...
3. leak all over the place, my garage post would be a puddle of trans fluid after a week of sitting
after trans fluid stop-leak
1. no more hick-ups
2. Shifts imporved (actually, they are no longer buttery smooth but have become agressive and WAY faster, but not to the point where its uncomfortable so long as you have good felx disks, you'll be good to go. oh yea and I can now take on mustang GT's thank-you-very-much.
3. NO MORE LEAKS![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Read the labels, I dont know how it did this to my car, but it definitely effected shift points in my tranny. IT used to be buttery smooth even with its sluggishness and now its really abrupt and FAST to shift.
it could not have the same effect on you so I'm not Advising you to do it, simply to think about it.
I have heard horror stories from mechanics regarding stop leaks, but then again they dont own VAULT like W124s

I'm not leaking trans fluid, I'm leaking oil. The rear main seal is a known leak trouble spot. I didn't know which you meant, since I was talking about oil and you seemed to be talking about trans fluid.
yeah, that's right, you're my biatch.

I want to do a few things. Stiffen the car's suspension, get the 500e brakes with brembo, and replace my 4spd auto with a 5 or 6 spd manual. God help me, its never going to happen :\ But, thats my like BIG plan. That and a complete engine rebuild with the Mosselman Turbo.
