Exclamation AMG rims

I made one BIG MISTAKE last year. I sold my 17" x 9" AMG rims "Hammers" I guess! I just went to the market today and found them again second hand! All I have now are three pieces, but another shop had 4 ore pieces.

I am buying two spare just in case for the future!

I just wanna know if I can just paint them with Silver paint?

Anyone need some? Lemme know!

Talking

NO! I meant not the cheap chrome look on those things. That would look FUGLY! I meant the regular grayish color that they come with. The Mercedes Dealer here sells it for like $75 a Kilo. just gotta get someone to spray it on for me.

I'm just curious as to how your 'AMG Hammer' wheels are 17 x 9"?

Anyways, Don't even bother painting them yourself. Have a professional do it.

Hey ChrisDPham,

I am not sure if the ones I have are called the "hammers". They are exactly the same ones you got in your pic above. Please lemme know if thats what I've got.

About the paint, theres no way I'm tryin to do it myself. I'm just gonna give em to the guy who is doing my body job. I had a major crash this year at 160 KMPH. A Corolla rear ended me and all I lst was a tail light and the rear fender was slightly bent. The Corolla was totalled . It was a 2006 February-bought Corolla that was in the junk yard in March ! I love the safety of the Mercedes Tanks!

Anyways, this mechanic is great with the paint jobs and denting, so I'm just gonna let him handle the two rims that need painting. The other two are in mint condition. You will not believe the price I paid for those last night! I found three at a tire shop for 250 Dirhams ($70) I just did not even try to bring the price down. Unfortunately he just had three pieces. Then I found another shop in the city who had a set of four pieces. From him I will take two more tonight as his need painting. I will keep one spare at home just in case.

Just lemme know what those rims are called. About the size, they are 17" and I measured the width and it was 9". I think I want Falken Tires on those. My roomie got those tires on his 2006 Altima and they are super quiet.

Waiting for your reply and comments.

Do your wheels look like these...?

If so, you have the same wheels as me and they are AMG Hammers. The correct size is 17 x 8" +28.

I would go with Falken tires as well. I have the Falken ST-115's and I definiely recommend them. Quiet, the grip is superb and just a great tire overall in my opinion ...

Can you just go to my profile and see the profile pic there, please? Thats my car a year and a half ago. I am getting the same ones back again.

lots of cars
I've refinished wheels before and it's not that hard...Did it to this set before i sold them on ebay..

What you need is to get them mediablasted, then take them to a local wheel shop to get the lip polished (don't try it yourself too much work!). You tape up the lips with 3m blue masking tape, primer the wheels with self eatching/filler primer, sand with 400 grit and after that just paint them silver. You local auto body store can kinda match the color of silver. I used a single stange silver paint called omni by ppg. After the paint is hard and shiny you would sand them with 2300 sand paper and use a mild wax and buff them and that's it...

They should look like this after..

`Hey guys,
He was kinda charging me extra to do the lip polish work (extra $60) and just the paint for $60. I am thinking maybe I should get that done too.

What do you say?

Thanks in advance.
