oh god this is weird..
I've been trying to check the VIN data of my car for a long time but had never been able to fetch any constructive info. (e.g. from the Russian site)..
I was just wondering if the VIN of my car had been tampered with before? The VIN seems to be wrong and I can't search for any of the VIN data other than those really generic ones (e.g. car is made in Germany).. One site even showed that my car was made in 2002!
Any help?

Jeff
Oh but this could be explained as my mom has crashed the car before, and was thereafter fixed
The weirdest thing is, the car was brought from new, by my parents

I don't mean to sound like a jackass but you are writing WDB and not just the numbers correct?

Hey, how bad was your crash? Even if it crashed, they could have re-rivetted the plate back. Why use cheap screws and get caught?
I say the same thing, its just crazy! maybe its an overseas thang...?
USA cars also have vin stamped on firewall, on a plate visible through windshield, etc.
Might let the list know where you are, as most of us in USA can't help you if you're not.
EPC says your car is a 220E/E200 from 10/92 or 200D-300D from 7/93, so it's a valid number if that corresponds.

Even on the document which shows that the car was imported as a Brand New Vehicle in late 1993..
Stand in front and look at your battery.
Lower your eyes to the painted sheet metal in front of the battery.

cheers for the input. i've checked the VIN at 3 different places (VIN plate, firewall and reg. docs.) and all show exactly the same VIN
