Sound proofing

Ok, well I will begin to sound proof my car just to get better sound and to have less road noise. What I am looking for is directions on how to take off the door panel ( 87' 300e w/o door speakers ) and places on where to place some matting. This will be a fun project Has anybody done this already?

Great. Thanks for the point, I sure will copy and paste this over at mercedesshop... Now should I put it in the audio section or the main section... I also remember that somebody else here also put some in their car. Did the car itself feel/sound better?

My 2 door 1989 has matting on every inch under every panel, floor etc.

Sorry- I am not a DIY type, I paid through the nose to have a killer nav/tri-amped stereo + custom sub box installed, and while every piece of panel/carpet etc was out, I had the sound matting stuck in, and I watched...and found small spots while they worked. Every durn inch is covered (from the windows down)

Yes, the difference is unmistakeable in my 300e 4 door and 300TE wagon. They are both quiet cars, but the road noise is night and day quieter in my daily driver, the '89 coupe.

I'd love to get my car matted and sealed but theres so much else to take care of before it could happen.

Currently I get a fair bit of rushing air ambience when I hit 60 and it gets worse the faster I go. I need to borrow my neighbors W124 for a bit to compare... perhaps its just the door seals.
