my guess is it's for the newer cars that have sensors in the seat that will deactivate the bags if noone is sitting in the seat. Do our cars (the later post 1990's) have dual airbags? Also i doubt that they would have transponders in them given the age. Still a cool looking seat.

it's my understanding that 124 passenger seats have weight sensors that can tell if someone is sitting there or not.

really? wow that surprises me, i wouldn't have thought that that technology would have been around back then. Mine doesn't have a passenger airbag was this an item that was added in the 90's?
