Found two problems with the new E420

Soooo... I found two minor problems with the new car.

1. recently the fan has been constantly and I don't know why. I guess its good since its keeping the engine cool. lol so what could the problem be?

2. the oil pressure guage isn't working. it doesn't fluntuate like it should. I checked the oil and its good. could it be that it has been driven much since I bought it and the car sat in her driveway since feb without a oil change? I'm thinking a oil change might help or the oil pressure sender might be bad. any ideas anyone?

check oil pressure sender to be sure.

And could be the oil too.

RE the fans... I would think the switch that controls them may be faulty. was it always running all the time or it just seems like it.

If the AC is on they will always be on untilt he AC is off or the car is hot enough.

Once I turn the car on even in just the ignition only without starting the car the fan turns on ... its kind of annoying because its all loud. lol its not a serious problem is it?

Ill check out the whole oil ordeal later.

lol. The AC is always off since I'm not a fan of using the AC all too much. I'm more of a windows down type of guy.

Sounds like you got a good buy still I bought my 420 from this spindthrift who would buy his cars at 80 or 90 thousand and sell them 30 thousand later. He skimped on most things in general, used high friction pads (that would in theory last longer) that roasted the rear linkage.

Do you know what might be the problem Eliot? Since you have the same car as me.

Rear end should be really firm, it should stick to the road (thats my impression from driving with the new gear today). Previous I was getting dangerous instability on the highway... the car would made unnanounced departures to the left and right. I drove one windy day from Charleston, SC to Northern Virginia and it was exhausting... I had to constantly correct its heading and I felt uncomfortable driving in parallel to another vehicle fearing that I might drift into it.

I don't know if its applicable to your car. You have fewer miles don't you? Suppose eventually you'll need them replaced, the Thrust Arms in particular are a week spot. MB replaced the W124 part with a stronger updated version from the W210. My bill was 700 parts and labor (at 93 an hour). I honestly wouldn't mind paying that again at 260,000 miles. I got a quote for just the TA at another shop and that was only 300. Parts themselves are 100 I believe.

Moral of the story from my mechanic was heat is bad and stick with soft brake pads.

I am going forward with the AMG kit... I have to look closely at my budgie. I'd really love to get their V8 suspension but I may not have the money for it.

it's in section 83 (climate control), section 537.

"Removal and installation of series resistor for auxiliary fan"

I think that's what you're looking for.
