I've already ordered the LEDs and removed the old yellow LEDs from within the switches. Once I've soldered everything in and replaced the dash I'll snap a pic for you guys.

Well, its finally done. I just finished up the LEDs in the dash and switches. I don't have my camera with me but I'll try with my phone and see if I can get any good shots.

Those look really great! And it only took me about 90 seconds to figure out that the last pic is the ashtray.

plasma instrument lights

I saw a w124 dash on an ebay car that he called plasma lighting. It looks good, all backlite. Anybody know where these are sold? Panel face is white in daylight.

Yeah, I think I have that auction bookmarked on my ebay account. NorCal, can you post what products you used to backlight the different switches in your car? I really want to do this mod now that I see how clean it looks in your car! As for the plasma tach, I think it would be fairly easy to fix the needle problem.... Not sure how yet, but I am sure it can be done. Maybe coating the needle in UV reactive paint would do the trick.

I used both 5mm and 3mm LEDs. If you type that in your search you'll come up with all the different colored LEDs. You can get away with using just 3mm LEDs. I chose to use 5mm ones too because they were brighter and it was hard to get the climate controls to be just as bright as the rest of the switches. I also used the 5mm LEDs for the ashtray light and the shifter light.

The bulb is called a festoon bulb, and you can find ones on ebay that have like 6 or 8 little LED's in them. I bought some probably 6 months ago, and haven't had problems with them. I got bright white, as you're suggesting, and it looks awesome!

search ebay for 'festoon led' or something along those lines. I think you need the 39mm ones, but I'm not sure if I'm remembering right. Just take out your current ones and measure them to be sure.
