Some have retrofitted new bulbs others have converted to LEDs. But yes, both have been done. 190 Revolution might be a good place to do some research - Link.

This looks so good ... Someone do this mod and then do a write up so we can all do it as well. All the bulbs in my car are LEDs. It would be nice to have all the switches white as well.

Those look so nice. I will do that to my car asap, prolly white LEDs.... Do you lose the fade control when you go LED? As nice and bright as that is, I still like shutting down the lights at night every so often for helping sight.

No, LEDs can have voltage scaled up until a certain point. Lowering the voltage through the rheostat will have no ill-effect, though raising it beyond their tolerance will shorten their life significantly. Get the right type of LED bulb for the voltage and you should not run into any problems

Looks quite good the early W124s had clocks instead of tachometers?

Does anyone have (or plan to do) a detailed write up with specific parts list for this mod?

I installed chrome rings. They're a bit tricky to install, due to poor manufacturing tolerances inherent in these parts. I do like how they look, though.
