yeah. I wonder if the rims would look better in a lighter shade of gray. Any of you photoshop types wanna take a crack at it? maybe something halfway between the dark charcoal and the original color? Thanks!

Bigpete..
Color combos like light grey and beige would not be that hot Would you wear a beige suit and grey shoes? No.....charcoal or black would be the best IMO....perhaps a Bronze for something REALLY unique...
I'lll take a crack at it to show you...
Mods:
Clear corners
Lowered a tad
Bronze wheels
Color coded grille
Color coded handles

that's f**king hot, man.
for sure, the grey or gunmetal rims won't look as good as going something that will match the color of the car better. grey would look okay with black or white, but with that color, zorro has the right idea...

I have the same color and once I get my car back within 2 months it will go through similar changed. I have never been a fan of black wheels except on black cars, color matched in this case wont work. Silver with polished lips is my opinion with clean calipers behind it. I really like the grill idea along with the striped color matched as well. Clear corners, matched bumpers and cladding and doorhandles + mirrors painted. Vogtlands and bilstein sports for ride height is a must.
I like the add-on front bumpers and will most likely cut and paste one of those in and the ducktail. Plus dark tint to finish it all off.
Other than that, ZorroAMG, I want your wheels!

Hey Zorro. Thanks for going above and beyond words to show me what you're getting at. I hear you about the black/brown thing. Variations of those two colors typically don't go very well together.
As far as the bronze/brown rims... I don't know if I'm diggin them. No offense. Maybe it's just cuz I've never seen wheels that color before... I definitely follow your concept of picking complementary colors though.
What about this. What about color-matching the lower panels of the car, and painting (or powdercoating or whatever) the rims the same color as the previous lower panelling. lol, maybe that would be stupid. And it would be only a subtle difference from my current wheel color... As far as darkness, it wouldn't be much different. Just a slight color change.
I guess I'm pretty conservative when it comes to modding. I like to go with subtlety over standing out. Obviously, I was taking a leap going for charcoal rims! lol To give you an example, I chose those '94-'95 corners instead of the clear corners. I'm an accountant for god's sake. lmao. Now that I've had them for a few years, I definitely wish I had done the clears. So I might change those out. But you see what I'm saying.
Or here's another idea. What about a brown/burgandy color that is so dark that you can only really tell its true color when you get close?
I think I mentioned before that the look I'm going for is a raw race look. Kinda like I was at the track and they just threw on some powerdercoated steel rims. See what I'm saying? That's where the flat black/charcoal idea came in. sigh. I dunno. The color of my car is definitely champagne (such a ghey name). Technically it's "smoke silver", like I mentioned before. And there is quite a bit of silver in the color... So I feel like maybe it's a little more flexible than a brown car for example.
Okay, I'm ranting. Thoughts?

how about this wheel color? It almost kinda matches my color scheme wouldn't you say? I wouldn't dare put these rims on my car, so I'm only talking about the color.

I dunno BigPete, everytime i look at those bronze/dark brownish rims for your color of car, it confirms it more and more. See if you did the color of the enkei rims or mine, made them a pearl or metallic, it would KICK A$$! Your idea of super dark bronze/brown is cool too ...

wow guys. Thanks so much for taking all the time to show me my options.
I don't know. Maybe I'm not forward-thinking enough, or maybe I just have a bad eye... but I think my favorite out of all of them so far is the version that Hound did with the lighter charcoal/gunmetal color. Maybe if I had the paint shop mix a little of my lower panel color in with the paint, it will help it match better. But that's definitely my favorite so far.
Sorry to dissapoint you Zorro!

It's ok...the thing is, it's just paint, try something different and you can always change it....(cash permitting)

To answer this, for myself I took a course offered at the local college last year that gave me the foundations and helped me to learn how to do the most common things in the program. Other then that I found the best way was to mess around after that and have fun, just remember not to save if you are working on something that you don't want to make a mistake on. Wait till your pleased with the outcome then save. Other then that it all depends on how you learn things, I learn better by hands on work, some people work better by seeing someone do it and some learn better by reading about it then seeing/doing it. There are lots of great helpfull sites out there that show you how to do some of the more complex stuff but first you have to be comfortable using the program before I'd attempt that.
