Whats with these alternators

Im ****ing pissed! this car might have cost me my fu@kin job.I had an absolutely must be there meeting or else warning.

I was on an on ramp on my way to that meeting. when I nocticed the tach need drop.then the car just died.I was able to get it started and head straight for the near by sears. They did the test for my and said that my alternator was shot.I just replaced my alt 3months ago.I'm not running a hard core system so what the **** is the problem.

The industry calls it "infancy failure".

often times these rebuilt alternators and the like are bought up from junk yards and then they are sent overseas to be pulled apart and "inspected" or rebuilt by that highly skilled labor force they have in Africa, or Asia. Economy of scale here, they figure they can sell enough of these patched up alternators that work to offset the costs of replacing one for you when it goes bad so soon.

Remember that alternators rarely go bad, but it is the voltage regulator that eats it. Keep the bosch or factory alternator and just replace the brushes in the voltage regulator unit that attaches in the back of the alternator.
