My air blows hot all the time even w/ AC on, my shop says right away " monovalve" - anyone else have this happen and if so was it expensive?

Also, I drive a 93 400E and love it. I was looking to also get a 2001 E430 but have been asking some folks and am starting to hear horror stories about the electrical systems. Does anyone here also have the W210 style and what have you experienced. Is it true the quality was really poor on those models?
