Product Review - W124 Chrome Switch Control Rings

Found said product on a certain large auction site, thanks to another member here. It's to add a bit of chrome around the center console switches, including the window switches. The first pic shows what they look like; according to the packaging, it is made of "plated brass". Ok, so they're pretty nice in construction, not just chromed pieces of plastic. Pic #2 shows a trial setup. My conclusion was that they are too flashy, maybe I'll just do the four window switches. But read on....

A couple of problems. One, they should be rectangular, not two straight sides with two slightly curved ends. This makes for fitting problems where the switches are close, such as near the rear seat child lockout switch and the left rear window switch (see Pic #3). Two, some pieces don't even fit well, like the one around the speaker fader knob. Three, the pieces for the hazard, rear headrest release, etc don't even fit into the groove that these switches reside in (Pic #4). Oh, and they're not quite wide enough; if you depress the switch, it lifts the chrome ring up : (

The seller says that I'm the first person to say that they don't fit, and, to his credit, refunded me my money.

Good post Eric

I myself was very much considering to get them, If the seller says you are the 1st one to have the problem then I guess its a gamble if any of us decide to try them out !!

hmm, good looking out man... Well, I guess my car is going to stay un-accented for the switches, though I may try and tackle the LED backlight replacement for all my switches. Red or white? hm...

is a German Tank
they would be money if they would "sink" in to the button-slots and if they were to lay flat against the wood.

thanks Eric.

Thanks for posting, I have that same item on my "watch list" and I was probably going to buy them soon. Not now though!
