Lazy shift between 2nd and 3rd
My 300CE-24's gearbox slips when shifting from 2nd to 3rd (revs jump for a moment unless I lift off the throttle). 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th is perfect and I can't detect any other faults on the transmission.
A mechanic told that the pressure modulator may need tightening.
Firstly, does that sound right?
Secondly, is this something I can do myself?

Mercedes benz 1991 300ce(RIP), now an 89 300ce
im not positive, exactly how to do this...but right next the transmission is a little knob(green?) you can turn with an allen wrench to make the car shift harder or softer

Thats the transmission vacuum modulator.. its covered by a black cap on the bottom drivers side of your transmission. Pop off the black cap and there is a silver t shaped tool, you pull it out and rotate it counterclockwise for more smooth clockwise for harder.. but i could have that mixed up the other way around haha.

500E Signal Rot
There are several causes for this, none of them being the vacume modulator. The modulator adjusts the firmness of the ships, if you are experiencing flares between gears, this will not help.
MB released a tech document about this problem and there is a K1 spring kit that updates your trans valve body, I would start here first. If the K1 spring kit does not fix the problem, you could have problems with the valve body itself or directly with the transmission clutch's.
