i was talking to mbenzman and i know he was about to start working on that project, converting an e320 cab.... while searching for cabs he ended up finding a clk 55 amg cab so the w124 conversion died, but he's a VERY knowledgeable mb mechanic, you might want to talk to him.

That project is being done to at least two cars right now, one in Michigan and one in SoCal. There is a lot to do for the project, everything from engine management system [the computers and wiring] to the installation of a completely different crossmember and mounting system in the front end and for the tranny. Also, parts such as the entire cooling system will have to be replaced and items like the ignition [$1500 from the dealer and $800 used] will have to be sourced and tested.

Not to scare you off because it can be done but it is a bunch of hours for a very experienced team and many dollars in parts. Talk to these guys in Michigan to get a feel about the project. Look at their "projects" link. http://www.motorwerksgroup.com/projects.htm

Oh, a CE, i read the tittle and promptly forgot that it was a CE, i was thinking an E320 sedan with a 500E powerplant . . .

A W124 coupe with that 8 cylinder engine would be pretty sick

I have he good fortune of having Motorwerks just down the road - Satish has performed all of the upgrades on my car & I've followed the conversion closely since they decided to do it (I almost bought the car they are modifying...).

Satish is a talented engineer, though he has said numerous times that it really isn't a hugely difficult swap. No modifications need to be made to the transmission tunnel & the crossmember is just a matter of careful cutting & welding.

This car will be truly incredible with the correct wide body work & will look like it rolled out of the factory this way.

Saving my pennies now to buy it.

Satish is a brilliant guy. He did a 560SEC converted to m119 engine and I know he was working on a 500CE at one point but never followed up. Very knowledgable, and if anybody could do it he for sure could.

I believe you can find info on his conversion at mbcoupes.com

He is the site admin and his e-mail address is on that site.

here is the page with info on his SEC m119 conversion..
