Over Engineering at its best...

What is the purpose of the two wires imbedded inside the hose that goes from the windshield washer pump to the nozzles in the hood? I thought I would cut this hose and reconnect it to the washer pump and improve the seal but, no! There is a pair of wires INSIDE the wall of the tubing that appears to be crimped together at the connection to the washer pump. Crazy! I just can't see what purpose they could serve. They are not connected to anything at the end I can see.

the washer fluid is heated by a coolant line that runs through the washer fluid tank.

The fluid is heated by a coil of engine coolant in the washer fluid tank. The wires are most likely for the nozzle heaters, which keep the nozzles themselves from freezing up, which I believe are electric. Mine all seem to work perfectly, so I've never had a reason to disassemble the system at that end. Only thing I've done to the washer system is replace the tank and pump grommets.

THe heated water and nozzles are cool. But if its cool enough out to promote heating elements wont it just freeze once it hits the windshield?

I removed my tank and plumbing. Eventually the hood will not even have the nozels.

It is a worthless system, in my experience.

no, your defrost/heater will be warming it from inside the car and your wiper will wipe it off as soon as it hits the glass anyway.

it'll freeze upon windshield contact, yes......if you're frugle enough to put water
into the reservoir. most people will put some cleaner/anti-freeze solution....
which simply has a little alcohol mixed in.

Wow! Brilliant. I know the tank is heated by the coolant coil immersed in it, but I didn't think they would heat the lines, too. Like I said, over-engineering, but that's what I love about this car!

Having just had a couple of dumps of snow in Vancouver, I can assure you that it's not over-engineered, and in fact works quite well : )

I didn't consider the fact that the windshield would be heated from inside once the car gets goin...plus the anti-freeze washer fluid. So yeah...great system!

Eh, I haven't tried the de-icer in the fluid, but even with my engine warm and the defrost button on, If I shoot my windshieldwasher on the Hwy and it is less than freezing... ie 15 degrees not including 80mph for wind, it freezes right on contact, no heating will help there. It is a killer system though.
