M-B Accessory Extends Range of Car By 30 Miles!
It doesn't get me more mpg, but I can now drive further
This is a MB accessory that I think was not available in North America. From the ad:
"Spare gas can for Mercedes. Fits inside full size (14" & above) wheel in trunk, where it saves space and is well protected. 7 liter capacity, painted sheet steel, corrosion-proofed. Includes galvanized filler extension."
Don't ask me how much it cost (+ shipping from Germany) but it's a cool accessory!

Why are people reluctant to post prices? 
I don't think anyone here is going to think of you differently regardless if it was 100$ or 400$. That would be a great accessory for remote areas, or for women who forget to fill up their tanks

When I was in Soviet Lithuania 30 years ago, most cars had this option. This feature was to extend driving between fillups on a trip because filling stations were sparse, and to find one that was open and had gas was an adventure! I'm not surprised that it's not available in Noth America. Here in the West we're used to having gas stations at every corner, sometimes open around the clock. Do some traveling elsewhere in the world and you'll appreciate having such a feature.
