This is unbelievable

I know this isn't a w124, but I had never seen such a thing. An SL73 AMG. A 7.3 liter engine is just unbelievable. It's Japanese I think, but you can still check out the pictures.

Dang, That's one clean SL73.

That car just screams "baller" status. Such a rare car as well - Only 85 known SL73's were produced world wide through AMG. Let's just say the Pagani Zonda uses the same engine.

Thanks for the complement Chris. I think your E420 is a great car. I also drive a '93 400E so I can relate how the W124's are still one of the most solid engineered MB's ever made! Mike

Yeah Mike!

Always a pleasure to see your car out at every meet recently. Gotta take me for a ride someday so I can witness that 73 beast!

Sweet! Looking forward to it Mike.

Did you go on that cruise with everyone during the meet on Jan 20th?

Do you have any pictures of your 400E?

Amg actually produced a few even more powerful R129s, called the SL730. They were made especially for the Sultan of Brunei. 565Bhp I think.

I have driven an SL60 AMG (1 of 32 made) with a 400bhp V8.
Lovely cars.

Edit. this is what the engine sounds like.

Check the BRABUS website under Tuning/Classics for an even more powerful R-129 than the Sultan AMG.

The BRABUS SL7.3S motor is rated at 582bhp/569lbft torque. Road and Track tested the SL7.3S in the Feb 2000 issue and rated it at 599bhp/570lbft.

Edit/Correction:

That is what the 7.3L AMG motor sounds like on a Zonda F.
