please help on how to remove chrome on center caps

hey guys! I need help on some chrome stripping. I just purchased lorinser d93 17" but the chrome on it is not that good and also I really don't like chrome. So I brought the rims to a wheel specialist to have them stripped so I can paint it silver...european silver. here's the problem...they would not accept the center caps for they said that the center caps will not hold on the stripping solution and will probably destroy it. so right now I have the center caps with me. was planning of sanding it down but you guys know how the d93 center caps look like...with the lorinser name engraved on the center and a lot of holes all over the centercaps for the screws. it really would be a hastle sanding it down. would there be anyway that I can strip it with out sanding it. like a DIY thing...please help thanks!

are they plastic or metal?
i would try to sand them by hand or with a small orbital sander or something like that, and then hit them with the paint.
not sure though, but be careful that you don't permanently ruin them...

lots of cars
You need to use The Works toilet bowl cleaner.....It's tough on stains! Removes rust, lime scale, & hard waret stains....lol...It's basically hydrochloric acid...

Also if you leave it long enough it will peel the ***** out of chrome...I use it all the time to remove rust on old mustangs...it works!

Always wear a mask & gloves when using this stuff because it's really strong and do this outside!!.....Put some on a towl and then rub the chrome with it and it will start to take it off when u rub it...

Also have a container with banking soda & water around to clean off the part after your done...
