So, hello MB World.

Hi, I'm new to this site, but not new to the MB world.. I got a 1989 300CE from my dad and i love it. It is lowered with an Eibach pro kit, has clear corners and 17 in. Borbet rims.

I just recently got into a minor accident including a snow bank, so now i need a new front bumper and bumper trim. Any tips on where to pick this up? I already got some local quotes and they are in the $1800 range (ouch) I also need a new external temp. sensor that was behind the front license plate, anyone know where i can get that on line as well as the part #? Thanks in advance.

Enjoy:

Gorgeous car...and I love those wheels! You can get the ambient temp sensor online at www.buymbparts.com. It's around $60. There are probably other sites that have it cheaper, but I have always been impressed with the customer service and fast shipping at that site. As for a bumper...I would look around on ebay or maybe a local junkyard before dishing out the big bucks to buy a new one from the dealer.

Is that a prison in the background of the first pic? Or a school or something?

most definitely look on ebay. I have seen those full assemblies up on there lots of times. They are much much cheaper. Make sure you budget for a good paint job, too (i.e. no Maaco). Since our cars are getting on in age, the sun has faded the paint... so in order to get a good match, they will need to customize the paint and do some guess and check. Make sure they do that properly.

You might want to consider painting the whole lower body cladding to match the black while you're at it. It really makes the car look newer without taking away from its character.

The pictures were taken @ the Doon Conestoga College (Rated # 1 college in Ontario) parking lot. What you see in the first picture is the college residence. Thats right, I'm a college student. The odd thing is, I'm 1 of about 4 MB owners at the college. There are about 3 W124's of nice shape in my town. I have the only CE

Edit: PS: I will NOT paint the bottom 1/2 of the car, it looks too beautiful 2-toned.

I also just got the car painted early last year.

PPS: I take my car to Mitek, they are MB pro's, they are RIGHT BESIDE Victoria Star Motors MB dealer. I would never cheap out on parts for my baby.

You're right.

He has the M103 3.0 Engine and not the M104 300E 2.8 Engine like yours. His pictures on his CarDomain simply says it all about his car.

True, 2.8 was a 1993 only.

I just noticed this part of your first post.

That dealership is really ripping you off, it must be a canada thing up there.

Both parts which include the Bumper and Impact strip should only run you about ... $822.00 USD and that's at Suggested list price.

The Part #'s you need are...

Outboard Temperature Feeler
A 001 542 26 18

Price is roughly around $66.00 USD or less.

If you need to screw to mount the sensor to the bumper then the Part # is N 000000 000459

Good Luck!

you can the get the temp sensor on ebay for really cheap. Probably around $20. I'm not sure if that includes the actual cable though. Welcome!

dude you should just paint the bumper impact strip body color. I love the two-tone look as well. The black just looks out of place in the gray.
