cold start glitch...any ideas?

cold start glitch...any ideas?
if I leave my 86 300e sitting for a couple of days, its starts perfectly, runs for 8-10 mins then starts missing and usually cuts out. If i leave it for a while it starts up and runs pretty well perfect from there on. I suspect the bi-metal valve in the cold start regulator but i'd appreciate any ideas, the car runs beautifully otherwise.
