Oil?

Foo's at Autozone say 10w40 for the 300e. What do you guys say? 40 alright or go thicker or lighter? It's not for an oil change, just leaking... -_-..

AND BTW!!!! My friend's 300e has this splash guard type thing underneath the engine and it catches all the crap the engine or tranny leaks. Mine doesn't have one! Are they meant to come with the car? Easy to put one in?

Oh another question. I was messing with my idling a few minutes ago. What direction does it go? Is counter clockwise reduced RPM's? And I have to push it down and rotate right?

Edit: btw thanks for the reply. Guess I'll stick with the 40 then

The previous owner always used Mobil 1 synthetic on my car so that's what I use as of right now.

When I had the 300E - I used Mobil 1 10W-40.

Omar, I highly suggest you stop using synthetic until you fix your head gasket.

My '93 400E has always had 10W40 in the winter and 15W40 in the summer. That's what was in all of the service records and that's what I've used since I've had it. Doesn't lose a drop between 7500 mile changes.

My car leaks drops quite a lot as well. Any oil recommendation for that?

As for the panel underneath the engine compartment. Yes your car should have one. They sell them online. There should also be one for your fuel pump fuel filter area too.
