Finally getting my interior perfect (almost)

So, I found this guy on craiglist that wants to swap auto interior restoration for massages for his gf. He's coming out tomorrow to do all of the following:

Re-glue the headliner
Re-glue the vinyl on the b-pillars
Patch 2 holes in the vinyl on the driver's door
Patch one hole in the vinyl on the rear driver's side door
Patch the 4 holes on the right of the console where the fkn car phone was mounted
Patch the vinyl on the armrest where it has worn from 14 years of elbows
Re-glue the vinyl on the map pockets
Clean, smooth, and re-dye the leather on the steering wheel

I'll grab some before and after shots so you guys can see all of the work.

Sweet. I can't wait for the pics! That sounds awesome. I too need work done on my interior, argh. Is leather "dyable"? Can you change the interior's color?

Well, he's re-dyeing my black wheel black. I don't know about color changes.

Here's some before pics (he already did some of the work last week)

The console:

The partially repaired hole in the driver's door:

The other hole in the driver's door:

The rear driver's side door:

Here's one of the b-pillars:

The armrest:

This weird pink stain in the rear passenger side door:

My sagging headliner:

Passenger side door pocket:

Driver's side (already done):

And a gratuitous pic of Brett being pwned by physics:

Matt, your color combos are beautiful. I love that blue on creme.

As far as leather dying... It can be done... There are actually paints that you can get to re-color leather and vinyl. As with any paint work, prep is the biggest deal. I resprayed a set of blue seats to change them to creme color for my w108. It's best to take the seats out for this job to minimize overspray

Hmm, if you change the colors sooner or later would it fade away or scratch? I'd like to change colors from grey interior to black? And get some black carpet etc from another 300e junked or something. Or maybe mgw's interior color, dude I love your car's interior color! Looks so fine and classy lol

Last year we took our old 1987 300e and updated the interior. The fastest and most lasting method is to find a wrecked car with the color interior you want and swap it all out.

The car pictured had a combination of ragged out old leather parchment seats that had fadded to an almost nasty pink color. Rotten, smelly, nasty carpet and the cheesy vinyl door panels.

For under 1K we did the entire thing. Seats, carpet set, floor mats, all the pillars, dash, etc.

check it out here:

Wow, that's really cool. Interesting combination on the ceiling too, the tan with black. Looks great imo.

Don,

Your interior looks fantastic, however, you have got to upgrade the steering wheel. The rubber is cheesy, I know, I had one in my TE, then I found a Leather SW from a 190E so I was able to reuse my air bag.. The feeling is so much better, I can't begin to explain how it changes the driving experience and pleasure.

I am suprised you did not get a diesel benz. Is F1 your company? I am dying to get a diesel, but I must wait until I finish school.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

He wasn't able to finish everything because the 50 degree weather yesterday made it so the resin and the glue didn't want to dry very fast, but as soon as he's done I'll post some more pics.

So, here's the update:

After repeated trips down to Alvin, Texas (Home of Nolan Ryan - everything down there says so) which is about an hour away from where I live, the fkn idiot that told me he could do all of this stuff told me that he couldn't finish!

Here's what he did:
- All of the half-as$ work that could be seen in my before pics
- Removed the b-pillar trim and headliner (I had to help - what a waste of a day)
- Got rid of the mystery pink stain
- color matched the piping on the rear head rests that had turned black from baking in the rear window

Once the headliner was out i started realizing that this fkn guy wouldn't know how to replace a headliner if his life depended on it. So, he blows me off for a few weeks and then tells me that he's too busy to finish the job.

At this point I'v got no headliner and I'm just hoping no one has to ride in my car. So I find someone who can actually do the job and he's going to replace it for $275. He said it would normally be $500+, but since it's out of the car already and since I'm going to re-install it he says he'll cut me a deal.

He ordered the vinyl yesterday so I should have some after pics the beginning of next week.
