1994 E320 Wagon - No Start

My first post and hope I find some help here.

Pull up to a light and hear a loud buzzing noise from in front of the instrument cluster.
Turn the car off and when I try and start it again no start.
Trailered the car home and here is what I have found out so far.

Everything works apart from the fact that when you turn the ignition switch to start - no start.
Everything electrical works.
Starter is fine, however no power to the solenoid when the key is turned to the start position.
Battery good and all grounds clean. Checked all fuses and they are fine - even cleaned and reseated them all.
The buzz is coming from the relay that provides power to the direction indicator, rear window heater & wiper. They all work. The relay for the indicators - center one of the three - is what is buzzing. Buzzing stops when you use the indicators.

Checked the OVD relay and the fuse is fine and it is the later unit.

Any ideas welcome.
Thanks,
Roger

have you replaced your wiring harness? Sounds suspicious.

I know it sounds stupid, but when you turn the key to start, what is the battery voltage? Accessory voltage?

Thanks.
Battery voltage is good at 12 volts.

I am going to dive into the ignition switch this morning.
I understand it can be a problem on these cars.

I guess last resort will be the wiring harness.
What do I need part number wise and how easy is it to fit?

Thanks for your help.
Roger
