I need to get a good set of front rotors. Do you all recomend a regular set of rotors? Drilled/slotted?

Thanks

Steve

I have powerslots on the TE, and Goodridge Stainless flexlines I got from Performance Products. The brake lines are great, I had standard Brembo rotors for my 400E. I would go OEM quality or slotted, not drilled. Drilled rotors crack. If you really want some good rotors, get the brembos and have them cryogenically treated.

I maybe sound like a noob, but what is the exact purpose of the stainless flex lines?

Do the drilled rotors crack even if you aren't tracking your car or racing? Do they still crack if only used as daily driving ?

No they don't crack...I've had brembo cross drilled on my daily driven W124 for 3.5years...one set of pads changed, rotors were never warped and they aren't cracked....

GREAT rotors....unless you track it, but who tracks a non 500E500 W124??

Do you use the OEM Pads or aftermarket ones, specially the ones without any brake dust.

The stainless braid surrounding the rubber hose prevents it from expanding and stretching during hard braking. OEM brake hoses can expand over time and under hot conditions. When the hoses expand when you slam on the brakes you're not utilizing the car's full stopping potential. As far as rotors go, cross drilled rotors will not crack unless you just absolutely abuse them or if they were originally solid rotors and then had the holes pressed into them. Avoid those at all costs! For the record, if someone says you can't resurface cross drilled they're full of *****. I just did my cross drilled rotors from my commuter car using the lathe at my work with no hiccups. I realize that the places that turned me down before were just afraid of breaking the bit on their machine. I realize they're just being cautious but they could have had $30 in their pocket. Now I just do it for free while I'm on the clock at work, LOL.

Is there any particular brand of rotors I should stay away from? I see a few sets on ebay for relatively cheap. Should I just get the brembo ones from tirerack for the extra money?

Am still trying to get around the cryogenically treated look.

I believe Zimmerman has the only quality OEM cross drilled rotor for the W124, unless Brembo has finally released theirs.
Stay with OEM quality, German or Italian made.
Too many on EBAY are lesser quality rotors that are drilled by the sellers.

There's also ATE, Powerslot, and occasionally you'll see "brembo" ones on ebay but I'm not certain if they're truly brembo. You may want to contact the seller and verify.
