Rear Headrest Fix??

Anyone know how the rear headrest mechanism works in the retractable model seats? Is it vaccum operated or mechanical??

Sometimes the vacuum switch under the rear seats fails, pretty easy to replace.

Also , if the car has the rear sunshade and the shade isn't fully retracted into its housing, the headrests will not flop down. BTDT.

Thanks fellas...it was the sunshade being not fully retracted.

I also fixed my drivers headrest that wouldn't go up or down. Really easy fix, just removed the rear seat panel by taking off the two screws at the bottom, and gently pried out the side bolster leather that fits in the vertical groove, and swung the unit down and to the side. No need to take the whole panel off. I had a broken nylon gear housing piece. I didn't need to even replace it. I simply put the piece back over the gear strip that is connected to the headrest and zip tied it in place. I used my Dremel to cut a groove into the plastic nylon piece so that when the zip ties went around it, they would stay in place. WOrks like new!
