Has anyone done the "resistor delete" mod?

The only engines that will have this resistor will be cars with an EZL. This means if you have a 94-95 E320 with HFM, you do not have this resistor. The old M104 with CIS-E and EZL ignition has the resistor. Your HFM engine runs much better than the old CIS cars anyway. I would much rather have the HFM fuel injection than the ability to do the resistor mod.
Removing the resistor sets your timing to 0 degrees. Advancing the timing is possible by replacing the tiny resistor inside the holder with a different value (don't have the values with me now). The timing resistor was only used on U.S. models, Euro models had the Timing Trimming Socket, which is variable.

The statements concerning HFM are correct, once you get into ODB-I and ODB-II vehicles, the ignition timing retard is still there, but its more sophisticated, requiring ECU modification (chip). The stand alone resister is not present.

Honestly, other than the fact that my take off response on my E320 compared to my 190E is 2 totally different(190E being very quick to jump from the start), the thrust and overall power of the E320 usually happens while in motion or over 45mph. I want to have a better low-end power with this W124.
Now, not to go off-topic, but is there a "skid control unit" or "ASR" in these 94-95 E320's? More torque on take-off is really what I'm looking for?
As for the resistor, I'm over it.

Cheers mate.
So that means there's not much I can do to get my rusty old girl to move faster
I agree with you. I doubt my country has such a thing. I think all petrol here are at least 97octane (or RON.. I don't know the distinction). I only fill up with 98, so, yeh.. You are right. A bit disappointed though!

hey guys just read in on this thread, my w124 is a euro spec and i've removed the resistor like 2 mins ago and have yet to test drive the car, your resistors say 24 81, whereas mine says 22 81 i cant really find any difference.. how do i check which resistor i have..

they come in different sizes. it may be different.

What engine have you got mate?

ok, im not sure what your refering to 2phast, yes i have the 2.6 m103 12v, i test drove it and didnt really feel any difference.. the throttle response was a bit wierd though like it felt and sounded like a tractor..haha

I was misinformed, guess that is the m104 3.0 not the 3.2. Makes more sense.
