Some Oil on a spark plug !!!!!!!
Hi guys,
I was chaging my car's spark plugs and found one of them is covered with oil... what does that mean?? does the engine need to be rebuilt or what??

Where is the oil? On the electrode or on the outer surface where the plug wires go on? If its on the outside, then you should look at the valve cover gasket, which is likely leaking and can cause rough running as it drips down into the plug.

Yes, I had this happen too, on the number 1 plug. Oil on the outside comes from the valve cover gasket and is no big deal, unless it's a large amount. Mercedes recommends cleaning the oil out of the hole before removing the plugs.

I'm not sure what would cause that and it is strange. Does the engine smoke or run rough? Number 3 plug fouling? If there are no other symptoms I wouldn't worry about it. If there was a large amount of oil coming into that one cylinder when it's running, then there would be something serious wrong, like a broken piston ring or maybe valve guide seals. These engines are practically bullet proof so it's probably OK.
