Question Inherited Issues

What are signs that the wheel bearings are on the outs? I suspect that may be one of the issues I am currently facing. After a few minutes of driving I can hear a squeaking/grinding sound coming from the rear driver's side that sounds a little like metal on metal and the car makes the noise when slowing to a stop and during certain turns. It shouldn't be the brakes because I got new pads and rotors about 2K miles ago.
I think I may have inherited some problems upon the purchase of the car, most of the suspension looks original and I have no records that say otherwise. When driving at freeway speed...
-I hear a sort of whirring noise that comes from the rear driver's side of the car.
-There's a little vibration in the steering wheel and the front passenger side seems a little bouncy at times. I replaced the center link about 3K miles ago at some of the play in the wheel went away but the ride is still probably substandard for this car. Any ideas?
