Turbotechnics Performance Result
Launch was in third gear with brakes held until wheels started to break loose....left about sixty feet of tire behind !!!

0-30 2.307
0-50 4.57
0-60 5.96
0-80 10.189
Not enough road for a 1/4 mile run.
Net Horsepower ( takes into consideration all power losses so lower then wheel HP )
178HP @ 5034 RPM
187LBFT @ 4978 RPM.
Launch technique not optimum for HP calculation due to wheelspin.
Oddly enough the net horsepower was almost identical to the published HP/Torque for the 1988 M103-12V engine.
Did some comparisons with contemporary road tests and performance is close to an automatic BMW 335I twin turbo.
Link below from the M5 thread is a February 1995 Top Gear test of Euro spec BMW E34 M5 6-speed, MB W124 500E automatic and Jaguar XKR 5-speed done at the Nurburgring in Germany.

Looks like the TurboTechnics install performs as good as if not better then the "Super Sedans" of the era....

A few more minor mods left and I expect 0-60 on the mid five second range with a high thirteen second quarter mile and about a 100MPH trap speed..

Very happy....

HAHA, JK.
Those are awesome results, I might steal that motor and put it in my TE

That's exactly why I did it.
Started with something that I knew all about and based on my belief that the W124 is one of the best Mercs ever built.
Like the feel of the car, simplicity of the systems in it, and wanted a package that would IMHO be superior to anything I could purchase new for under $40K.
Superior in the sense that you're not wrapped in what feels like cheap plastic, and burdened by electronics.
I don't think I'd buy a Merc that was built later then possibly 2000... ( My 03 G-Wagen excluded because it hasn't changed in twenty five years !!)
W124's are keepers.....

but,I wonder if you are talking specifically about pre '93 E-Classes. The chassis of the car feels rock-solid, but the interior feels like it's drowning in a sea of cheap, brittle, squeaky, German plastic. EVERY single piece of plastic creaks, kind of like a mid-eighties Volvo. Actually, this is about my only complaint about my car. The seats squeak. I had to remove the 2 pieces that cover the seat belt latches; they were driving me insane (actually, I think someone spilled soda down there and that could have cause the squeaking). The armrest rattles, the head rests rattle, the doors are an abomination of rattles, there is such a symphony of plastic squeaking on a moderately bumpy road that I can't even locate all of the sounds. Is this inconsistent with other E-Classes? Mine spent a great deal of its life in Arizona and Dallas. Did the sun bake the plastics and ruin them?
Restoring cars isn't about practicality and return on investment..it's about a feeling you have and hold on to through the car...

Paint got chalky but was able to get a good polish on it.
Leather, vinyls and plastics inside still very supple with no creaks or squeeks !!!!
Sun will take a toll in the climates that you described including cracking dash pads !!!
What I really like about the W124's is the simplistic ergonomic design of the switch gear...My 1999 C43 W202 has the same feel...later models have buttons that I can't even see
The basic vehicle hasn't changed much, but the AMG version adds not only a bigger engine but more electronics which can be troublesome.
Recurrent problem I have is with the steering shock absorber, had three in thirty thousand miles...when they go the truck has serious front end vibrations....
