damn that looks smoove

One note, I would recommend the $3 tinted "bubble" license plate cover that I got at Schucks... it would look really good and smoth out the back end of the car instead of having the chrome there.

The cap and hose would be for a old joke running around. See the post (#49) following your question.

The chrome frame actually looks better in person. I like tinted tag covers, but the wife and I've been pulled over in every vehicle I had them on (4)because of them, so I took them all off. Now I'll get pulled over for any other B.S. reason they can manufacture, like the drag racing incident a month ago with the E55. A 15 min. waste of time from an overzealous cop. At least they have to make some excuse here, In Canada, they just can harass you anytime as a routine check.

how complicated is that and how much would that run me? would i get some benefit from a bored out intake even if i didn't spring for the bored out throttle body?

I did this over ten years ago. It's a throttle body from an early M104. It is NOT a drop on part. It is modified to fit including removing the old linkage from it and fabricating new linkage. You have to remove the manifold and bore it out as the plate will hit the opening of the old manifold as it's considerably larger. This takes some skill, so don't start ripping your cars apart.

A fully ported and polished intake you would, this wasn't done to that extreme. No where near my later ones. So, I'll put it this way, If I were to do it over, which I'm not opposed to, I would finish polishing the manifold all the way through. But, I would do the throttle body if nothing else. You absolutely notice the throttle body, and would be one of the first mods I would do if I started over with another 300E.
BTW. any advice given isn't meant to be across the board, only specific to the model. I.E., I would not bother with this throttle on a 260E, 300E 2.6 or 190E 2.6, just polish and port the intake, but don't enlarge the runners as you need your air velocity up on those puppies. Larger runners=less velocity. I believe the air speed is already deficent, and couple that with hot air = no power at tip in and dead throttle response for a second. I can imagine the problem being worsened with larger intake runner passages.

No more worries....got the tag and applied for a GA title today. Even with the added $25 cost for a special wildlife tag (like Garf's) the total tab was only $61! No ad valorem tax as my birf-day is coming up.

What would your recommend to extract more power/torque out of a C36-powered W124 wagon ?

BTW: I have a set of 500E calipers w/rotors for sale. You'll have to run at least 16-inch wheels all the time, and DON'T FORGET THE SPARE! PM/email me if you're interested.

Make sure it's running perfect. Check chain stretch and correct. Did you swap in a 3.6 ecu also, if it's different? Check the plastic manifold for any plastic flash and trim it off, match the posrts on the intake to the cylinder head. Then port and polish the head. See if there are some larger cams, etc. etc..

Yes, she's running the C36 ECU, and chain stretch is correct.

I'll post a later link about going to smaller ports for HIGHER port velocity.

I think Brabus has some larger cams and a different ECU.
