Unhappy vibration on acceleration

Hi everybody.

I have this high frecuency, strong felt, even seems audible(?) vibration on my 1990 300E that is only felt when accelerating, specially when slowly gaining speed from 35~40 to 50~55 mph and surprisingly it is much more felt when I have load on the rear seat (two kids, 90 and 110 lbs )or trunk.
As soon as I deccelerate or totally release the pedal the vibration is gone and the car runs as silk. As well as when cruising at steady speed, high or low.

It is not the motor revs, as it does exactly the same runing on 3rd or 4th gear.

It is not the tires that I have changed for new and well balanced ones, thinking it was that. I also checked the rims for torsion or bent and were ok.

I checked the bearings: ok.

I think it could be something about the shaft, its joints, differential or rear axle.

Answers and possible solutions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Rafael.

I think you are looking in the right direction. Check your flex disks (front and rear of the driveshaft.

I was going to suggest checking the tie rods, but I'm not sure...

It could be an axle... but my axle just went bad (drivers side rear) and the car didn't vibrate, it only made clunking noises so.

Well, thats my retarded input, good luck!

It wouldn't be your tie rods. Their function is to simply turn your wheels when you turn your steering wheel. They don't spin.

I would say check your flex discs / driveshaft support bushing and beareing.

Also check you differential mounts. If they're broken / worn out, they can cause a vibration / howling noise.

Thank you for your imputs, guys.

I'll check the flex discs and central shaft bearing again, as well as dif mount. Tie rods are ok.

Anything else, anybody?

This thing is driving me crazy

Vibrationssssss

Rafael..I have the exact same problem (94 E320) and have been through everything suggested above. All the flex disk, u-joint and hanger bearings are fine. Engine mounts......fine.
I'm at the point where I am thinking of putting a camera under there...Have you found the source of your vibration yet? I even changed the rear axle sub-assembly front bushings (big things) but that didn't make any difference.
If you've found the cause of the problem I would really appreciate that info.
Thanks
