Coolant
I'm a newbie from Singapore.
For the engine cooling, is it a MUST to have the water mixed with anti-freeze coolant instead of having just 100% water?
It's pretty hot in Singapore & am not sure if it's not ok to have 100% water.

Just to confirm,
The MB owner's manual states the amount of anti freeze coolant to added into the system is 4.25 l for the 200E model engines.
The Haynes manual states the capacity of the engine cooling system is about 8.5 l.
Does it mean that the mixture of anti freeze coolant to water in the cooling system would be 50/50?
I'm asking cos the owner's manual also mentioned that too much of anti freeze coolant in the mixture would result in heat dissipation & I'm wondering if 50/50 ratio is too much as it is not specifically mentioned?

Although there are some makes that are cheaper than MB and seemingly to the same spec it's probably best to stick with genuine stuff. The price difference is tiny and your waterpump/headgasket life could be shorter if you use the wrong stuff.
